- Patanjali Yoga Sutra 1.1
Discipline of the body is the first step of a yogi’s journey. This is attained through structured yogic postures called asanas. The Beginner’s Asana Course, consisting of eight detailed and demonstrated classes, focuses on proper body-breath alignment and foundational practice of each posture. This course also consists of five passes to the regular asana practice sessions, with special focus on new practitioners to help ease everyone.
Access (and therefore commitment) to a structured practice is the second step of a yogi’s journey. Regular Asana Practice sessions offer 75 minutes of a carefully curated sequence of easy breathing and grounding exercises, asana practice targeting all parts of the body, and develop holistic strength and endurance. Ending with a deep relaxation helps assimilate all benefits of the practice.
Pranayama practice is the third leg of the journey. Yogic texts say that deep, proper, regulated breathing calms the mind. Control of breath can be used as a tool to address a myriad of lifestyle issues, and help each of us move through life at the pace, awareness and with the centeredness we want. Our pranayama practice, offered once every quarter as a 14-day series, will help you deepen your overall yoga practice and wellbeing through various types of yogic breathing techniques.
Deep centering within oneself is at the core of the yogic journey. This helps one with contemplation and meditation, which is the essence of a yogi. Techniques introduced in the last few days of the 14-day pranayama series, help build the foundation of a dedicated meditation practice which centers the yogi and their practice. We offer three and five days meditation workshops that can help you deepen your discipline.
Please note: All yoga sessions are done virtually, over Zoom, with detailed instructions and demonstrations.
