This works on the foundational understanding that all stress and trauma that we encounter in our lives, from life-changing events that have happened to us to the daily hustle and strife we all undertake, gets stored in our bodies. Both stress and traumatic events that happen to us, create a disconnect between what our bodies need to be doing for us, and how it behaves in the long run to protect us against stress and trauma. A daily yoga practice gives us the time and space to say to our bodies and minds, “Hey! Stop for a second. Let me check-in in this quiet space I have, to see where the cracks are.” The asana practice works on physically mending the manifestations of stress and trauma. This breaks the cycle of constant stress-response we often find ourselves in. The quiet you find in the classes, and the time you get to spend with yourself helps you decide how best to address these cracks that your mind has brought your attention to.
